It is with great pleasure that Maritza Irizarry, M.D. is my Special Guest this week. Dr. Irizarry has been practicing Pediatrics since 1986 and founded Sunshine Pediatrics in 1998. Her patients range in age from newborns to 18 years and she has two office locations (see above).

She attended Medical School in Puerto Rico and finished her Pediatric Residency training in 1986, also in Puerto Rico. She moved to the Valley of the Sun in August of 1994.

Dr. Irizarry is the Chairman of the Arizona Latinamerican Medical Association (ALMA) and Phoenix Magazine recognized her as Phoenix's top Pediatric's doctor. She also used to do a weekly health segment on the news Channel 33, Univision and remains a resource for them as well as Telmundo and has been featured on Channel 3 and Channel 12 for medical segments. She has been a speaker at the Hispanic Women's Conference, the Latino Institute and various schools and stands as an outstanding role model's for girls and young adults in our community.

Dr. Irizarry regularly volunteers at Health Fairs in the community and is very active with the indigent population in need of pro bono activities and immunization campaigns.

As if all the above wasn't enough to keep her busy, she also has a talk show live on 1190 am radio every morning, is often featured in the Arizona Republic as well as in several Hispanic magazines.
