Eclipse (in the shadow of) was born August 1, 1988 and arrived at Out of Africa 10 days later. Black African leopards are extremely rare in the wild. As of 2004, only two leopards displaying melanism (black fur) have been documented. Eclipse is one of a kind; his pink nose sets him apart from other leopards and makes him their very own “pink panther”.
