Mr. Del Monte started his motorcycle rental business in 1989 andhis was the first true, legal, motorcycle rental business in America.There were a few small companies renting small bikes with noinsurance, and there were motorcycle dealers that were doingoccasional long duration test rides on the manufactures insurance,but there were no true motorcycle rental businesses that Mr. Del Montecould find. Anywhere.

In spite of the strong opinions of lawyers, bankers, and insuranceagents in the world, that "it can't be done!", he did it. He startedwith two rental motorcycles in his garage and now has a beautiful,4,000 square foot building full of rental motorcycles.

Mr. Del Monte rents Harley-Davidson, BMW, and Suzuki motorcyclesby the day, week, or month. His clients are mature (average age 40)professional and skilled workers and managers, who can afford relativelyexpensive vacations. His motorcycles rent from $400 per week up to$750 per week. This is too expensive for younger riders. This expenseis a leveling influence, and keeps the riders mature. His rentalcustomers come from the East Coast and Canada (50%), Europe (40%),and Australia/New Zealand (10%).

Mr. Del Monte advertises all over the world and has establishedrelationships with travel agents around the world. He also hasrelationships with local concierges who send him clients who arein town on business and has an established return clientele. Hehas also written two books, "Motorcycle Arizona" and "How toStart and Run a Motorcycle Rental Business". He has a newbook in the works on touring Colorado.

He founded in 1975 the United States Norton Owners Association.Since then, this club, now named "The International Norton OwnersAssociation" has grown to over 8000 members, all dedicated to thepreservation and enjoyment of the famed British marque.
