Heads up to those of you still seeking a unique gift forthat special someone! My special guest this week isworld renowned artist Ms. Trudy Sween. Ms. Sweenis 33 years into her art career which has traced a paththrough the United States, Europe, and South America.She now resides and works in Phoenix, Arizonain an acclaimed studio/house which has been featuredin Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine and whichshe regards as live-in sculpture - the largest of one ofher most successful art projects. Her latest paintingsand sculptures reflect her move to the desert and herattendance at Native American sweat lodges. In additionto paintings and sculptures Ms. Sween has been involvedin numerous film projects where she has served as SetDesigner and Production Designer.

Ms. Sween's career took off in 1965 with the inclusion ofseveral of her works in a Houston Contemporary Art Museumexhibit. She has now exhibited on three continents. In 1978, theUnited States Information Service selected a series of Ms. Sween'scollage paintings incorporating her poetry for exhibits throughoutSouth America, especially the National Museum in La Paz, Bolivia.

During the 1980's a series of thirty-four of her paintingsbased on the Texas flag were shown in the Austin StateCapital rotunda museum and Ms. Sween was honoredby the Governor and Legislature.

Ms. Sween has also been recognized for her contributionto the art world by the "National Museum of Women inthe Arts" and the "Smithsonian" in Washington, D.C.
