Over the past two years, the Arizona Sahuaros
have been the most winning team in Arizona
professional sports, capturing the Western
Conference title in 1998 and going 14 and 4 in
1999 before losing in the playoffs. The Sahuaros
season officially starts on April 15 when they travel
to Riverside California. Their first home game is on
the fifth of May or Cinco de Mayo at Mesa High
School Stadium at 7:30 pm. All home games are
played at Mesa High School and tickets are $6.00
for general admission.

There are different levels in the league they play in
and because of their record, next season they will
play in the Premiere A League which is one level
away from becoming a Major League Soccer Team.
One of their goals is to be in the Major Leagues by 2003.
According to Stuart Starky, Director of Marketing, every
year soccer is becoming more popular and the
attendance at games is steadily growing.

The Arizona Sahuaros are coached by Manny Arias, a
former player on the El Salvador National Team. The team
is truly as international team with players from Mexico,
Peru, Chili, Argentina a goalie from Switzerland and of
course the United States of America. The Sahuaros play
in the Western Conference against teams from Colorado,
California and Utah, then the competition becomes national
once they make the playoffs.

It is with great pleasure that the members of the Arizona
Sahuaros will be our Special Guests this week. Arizona's
Professional Outdoor Soccer Team.

Please plan on joining us to socialize, meet new friends
and show our support to the Arizona Sahuaros.
