The messiah is here and coming to the Soiree!  I'm speaking of Jim Stack, President of the Phoenix Electric Auto Association.  Come meet Jim and talk electric cars.  Learn the latest about EV's (electric vehicles - pilgrim!).

Are you frustrated with the price of gasoline?  Fed up with the politics of oil drilling and production?  Want to just tell the powers to be to stick it?  Then maybe you are ready for an electric car!  Here in Arizona electricity is cheap (due chiefly to our nuclear power plants) compared with gasoline.  So you could literally plug your car in and charge it up and drive for less than 2¢ per mile or erect your own solar panels and charge it yourself!  What ever way you do it you'll be off of oil.

If you still have the impression that electric cars are small unsightly little things get over it!  Things are changing big time fast!  Check the Karma automobile by Fisker Automotive.  This car was unveiled at this past January's Detroit Auto Show.  While it's a hybrid (electric and gas) it will drive 100% on electric power for the first 50 miles and thereafter it's high performance 4 cylinder gas engine will kick in giving you a total range in excess of 650 miles!  It's also fast for a four door sedan going 0-60 mph in under 6 seconds with a top end of 125 mph.  All that and hot looking too.  True it's expensive at $100,000 but it's a great example of just how things are changing.  First deliveries are scheduled for the fall of 2009.  I ordered my own!  I have car number 126 scheduled for deliver in the first quarter of 2010.  Gas will be more than $6 a gallon by then if the trend line holds!

Please plan on joining us to socialize and meet new friends.

The Karma by Fisher Automotive The Karma's roof solar panels help charge the car and powers a blower inside the cabin to keep the interior cool while you are away!

Next up is Tesla Motors.

The Tesla Roadster is a no-compromise driver‘s car that does 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 second and will hit a top speed of over 100 mph. With a range of about 220 miles on a single charge, you can use it all day long and not worry you'll run out of juice. Just plug it in at night the same way you drop your cell phone into its charger, and sleep well.  No more gas stations!  No more gas period!  Price about $90,000

The Tesla Roadster is a small 100% electric hot looking sports car with a 220 mile range.

The above high end electric cars are just a tip of the iceberg. For sure they represent the top end tip but there are dozens of new cars from new electric car companies that are springing up all over the world. Just Google electric cars and be prepared to enter a whole new world of automobiles.

You can also join The Phoenix Chapter of the Electric Auto Association which strives to advance electric vehicle (EV) awareness. The group also serves as a means for electric vehicle owners and future owners to gain further knowledge on EV technology. Meetings include technical discussions, question-and-answer sessions, electric vehicle stories and vehicle displays. The meetings are held on the last Saturday of every month. Visit their events page for information on their upcoming meetings and Events. Note that they are now meeting downtown at the Arizona Center.

It is with great pleasure that Jim Stack, President of The Phoenix Electric Auto Association, will be my Special Guest this week.

Please plan on joining us to socialize and meet new friends.

Thanks all.
