It is my pleasure to introduce you to and welcome to the Soiree Kim Grady of SECOND AMENDMENT SISTERS Inc (SAS ).

SAS was founded in 2000 by five women all connected over cyberspace and all concerned about the erosion of our Second Amendment rights. The Million Mom March in D.C. was eminent and even though the SAS founders had little to no time to organize anything like the MMM.

SAS key belief and slogan for SAS is, "Self-defense is a basic human right," and that it was given to us by God and protected by the Second Amendment. A common question we get is, "Why an organization focused on women and the Second Amendment?" Throughout history, the Second Amendment or denial thereof has been directed at discrimination and ultimate annihilation of a people, whether it be race, creed, or religion. The first laws against the right to keep and bear arms in the U.S. were against the blacks. In modern day, women are the target of the same prejudice, mainly the "fear card" is being played over and over again to get women to give up their rights, "We can't have those guns in my house (around my children), or I am a bad mother." SAS , "SAS ters" as SAS members call themselves, strive to educate women about the Second Amendment and the importance of the right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense, whether they make the choice to carry a firearm or not. Some of us hold all gal events and shoots, some conduct training, most lobby and hold meetings to basically call women to arms to take action to protect our God given right to defend ourselves against anyone or thing that attempts to take our lives.

Today gun ownership is being viciously attack by people who simply do not understand the ramifications of their beliefs and actions or the purpose of the Second Amendment. Responsible gun ownership is about self-defense, SAS was established to protect that basic human right. We all have the right to defend ourselves against crime, and if needed against tyranny, with a gun, not our bare hands. The over riding reason we must not ever give up our guns is because government then controls the people; whereas this country was established so that "We The People" are able to exercise control over our government. The Second Amendment gives "We The People" the final say.

Our Founding Fathers did not second guess the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. They recognized that without the Second Amendment the entire Bill of Rights is null and void, you loose them all if you give up your Second Amendment right. That's how important our Second Amendment right was to our founders and that is why the recent U.S. Supreme Court 5 to 4 decisions in the Heller vs. D.C. case was a disgrace to every citizen and a slap in the face to our founders. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms should have received a unanimous vote, 9 to 0, without hesitation. In fact, this disgrace should be alarming to every U.S. citizen; that there are people in our country with so little understanding of tyranny and an all powerful government that they would even think to challenge our right to fight against it. What part of the word, "Right," don't these people and four of our disgraceful U.S. Supreme Court justices not understand?
