My Special Guest this week is Dr. Edward Kondrot who is my eye doctor and a frequent visitor at the Soiree where we met.

Dr. Kondrot is a graduate of the Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia in 1977. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who completed his Ophthalmology training at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and the Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia in 1981. He received his Diploma from the Hahnemann Homeopathic College in 1996 and certification by the Council of Homeopathic Certification in 2000 and the American Board of Homeopathy in 2002. He has been integrating Homeopathy in his practice since 1990.

He is the author of Healing the Eye the Natural Way: Alternative Medicine and Macular Degeneration, and Microcurrent Stimulation: Miracle Eye Cure. He is a contributing author in the Clinician’s Rapid Access Guide to Complementary & Alternative Medicine, Mosby. He also revised the Eye and Vision Chapters in Synthesis, Repertorium Homeopathicum Syntheticum a leading homeopathic textbook.

Having undergone the surgical procedure of Lasek on both of my eyes some six years ago with Dr. Gary Hall and achieving a stunning 20/15 and 20/17 result; I have been sold on Lasek ever since and highly recommend it to everyone with distance vision challenges.

At the time I had read about a new operation being developed that would help those with close distance challenges. At one time my close vision was near molecular and I used to have fun reading and seeing things folks could barely see with a strong magnifying glass. However, as we age our eye lens begins to lose it's elasticity and our close vision deteriorates. So I made a mental note of this new procedure for close vision and hoped I would never need it. Well, time caught up with me and I eventually found myself carrying magnification reading glasses every where I went.

Last Fall through the Soiree I met Dr. Edward Kondrot who upon noticing me whip out my magnifying glasses to read a business card suggested I undergo CK (Conductive Keratoplasy) an FDA approved procedure.

Well, Lasek was quick, painless, and I healed in 10 days and could see very well immediately but it is a surgical operation meaning they cut your eye! CK is a non-surgical procedure and since Lasek turned out so well I was interested in under going CK.

CK uses radio frequency waves to improve your eyesight. No cutting. One of my chief concerns before agreeing to CK was that I did not want to hurt my long distance vision. This Ed assured me would not happen. So in late October, 2004 I had CK done in both eyes.

The procedure was quick with only a slight pain and I could immediately read far better than I could before the procedure. I then went to the pharmacy to fill two prescriptions that Ed had given me. The pharmacy was backed up and I had to wait about 20 minutes upon which time the pharmacists discovered he had a question and had to call Dr. Kondrot for clarification. About that time my eyes began to really hurt and by time the pharmacists had my two eye drops ready I was in real pain. Anyone who has had eye pain will tell you about real pain. The pain immediately subsided once I applied the eye drops but as a result I highly recommend you purchase your eye drops before CK.

Over the next 30 days I feared I had made a major mistake. My close vision was not that great and blurry and my distance vision had become really bad. So bad I could not even enjoy watching television! Dr. Kondrot received a number of phone calls from me during this period and each time he reassure me everything was going to work out just fine.

Well, it's been six months now and throughout this time period my eyes have been healing and adjusting. Part of the adjustment process has to do with the brain and how it sees. It turns out that Dr. Kondrot determined that my dominate eye is my right eye so he made only a minor adjustment to it to improve my close vision but made a major adjustment to my left eye. This has resulted in my left eye suffering extremely poor distance vision but achieving very good close vision. My brain then switches between eyes based upon whether I'm viewing distance objects or close objects.

This works well for most people. My experience so far is just short of what I would call perfection. Today I see distance fairly well except at night when my distance vision falls off but I see up close very well. However, my close vision has been weakening as time goes on while my distance vision has been improving. Dr. Kondrot believes my eyes are now at about at their maximum healing and I will not experience much more deterioration in my close vision and may only pick up a bit more strength in my distance vision.

So the bottom line of my experience is this. Today I see distance very well with only slight annoyance at times - usually low light conditions. Close up I see pretty good too, even under low light conditions. I no longer need glasses to read or to see distance. So what Dr. Kondrot has done is a compromise that works well although I am hoping for just a bit more improvement. The first 30 days were rough but after that I seldom noticed vision challenges.

Compared to the general population I see like an eagle both up close and distance. So depending upon your own unique situation you may find that CK improves your life dramatically. In my case I'm very happy to throw the reading glasses away. I spend most of my time working at my desk and on my computer. It's a pleasure now and not a struggle. I used to suffer headaches daily from wearing magnification reading glasses while working at my desk and the computer

The cost of CK is $1,495 per eye. If you mention my name or the Soiree Dr. Kondrot will give you a 20% discount off of his normal price.

I hope you will take this opportunity to come meet Dr. Kondrot at this week's Soiree.

It is with great pleasure that Dr. Ed Kondrot, Opthamologist, will be my Special Guest this week.

Please plan on joining us to socialize and meet new friends.
